Photographer Boo Ritson covers her subjects entirely in paint, then photographs them!
This is what my session today was based on. Her stuff is great, and exists entirely through photographs which I think is really nice, it means her work is more than just a painting, it’s about the performance and energy that’s involved with creating it.

this video is quite eerie, but the use of the paint almost lightens the mood and makes it quite playful, which is an interesting contrast. the use of mirrors is a less daunting thought than making such effects in post production

i-D skate video.
this video is different from the ones I have been looking at so far, but I like the way that it is a type of portrait….and moving portrait that shows the interests of jenson roberts (who went to my college, in fact!). it is very different from your average skate videos - which are there to show off tricks etc, whereas this one shows how skating is a part of jenson’s life and personality.

this video caught my attention with its out-of-this-world theme…the use of mirror imaging, graphics and music helps to add to the eerie and mysterious feel of the video. you can imagine that the video is there to reflect the feel and inspiration of the clothing. i would love to be able to create something like this, however its a bit ambitious to even think to try to create it as I have never used video before. maybe in the future though….!

this video interested me for its effects….they were fairly simple but it seems to fit the story quite well as it has minimalistic shots, so anything too ‘fancy’ and extravagant would distract the viewer from things such as the clothing, scenery and the model. it is quite repetitive and the music matches this. I also noticed that a lot of the shots look like that of a still….eg it looks as if a photographer is about to take a picture, while the model is posing, but accidently switches onto video mode! the mixture between scenic shots and shots of the model keeps things interesting.
